Planting Seeds in a Storm

you left marks where
i should have felt love,
traces of your lips on my skin
shaded with powder blues,
Japanese purple, and lilac lusters.
You dug holes –
north of my shy collar bones,
in the small of my back,
where you once held me
close, under my chin
where my trachea arches
to the surface of thin skin.

I planted flowers in the dark places
you dug for me.
